Hello fellow students! I hope you all are doing well! Here are the minutes from last week’s meeting
E-board Reports
President Johnson:
Last week was a short week so I didn’t get much done, but I did send a reminder email to the people invited to the forum this thursday. Hopefully that will go down flawlessly. This week, John and I have an interview with a prospective clerk today, we are shooting a promo video for our guest chef appereance at Esker next wednesday, and hopefully having a meeting with Tyler from nomoredorms.com to discuss some further partnerships. Last week the Ad-Hoc committee met to decide what we wanted to see in terms of the new website, I am setting up a meeting with John and Jenny to finalize that. This Thursday is my event for the Inclusive Leaders Forum, and friday Anna and I leave for another student reps meeting in Fon Du Lac. Our football team kick butt last week and we are in the quarter finals, go show your support! Also, the annual Gala Holiday concert is this saturday, go buy a ticket and support your campus arts programs. Money generated from that goes into scholarships for students in the department. Stay warm!
Vice President Jensen:
Hello WSGers! I hope that you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend! Last week was relatively uneventful because of how short it was. Senator Holthaus, President Johnson, and Ms. Rogers attended Ms. Jordan’s New Student Seminar class to talk about WSG and other opportunities on campus; it was a great experience for all of us. Other than that, I attended the ad-hoc committee to discuss what we would like for a new website and I must say I am very excited for what we have to come. President Johnson and I also interviewed a candidate for Clerk this afternoon. Over the next week or two, I will be collecting Senate materials. Please make sure that before we start break, you return any Senate materials you have. If you will be a Senator next semester feel free to hold on to your name tag or WSG Polo if you have one, but I need everyone’s Senate binder so I can update the WSG Standing Rules in them for next semester. Constitution Revision Committee will be meeting tomorrow at 5:30PM in the WSG office. I hope that you all have a great week!
Student Affairs—Ms. Jordan:
Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving break! During this week, I will be working with Jenny to create invitations to send out all the orgs about the Involvement Initiative for the end of January. I will also be working with Patrick to pick dates for when we will host the Teacher Voice Project and we will begin to invite teachers/administration to the discussion groups. I have a meeting this week with Dr. Rios and Dr. Bilodeau so I will have more information about what is going on with them next week. Lastly, I wanted to say thanks to all the WSG members who came to my NSS class and showed how great of a leader they are for this campus!
Academic Affairs—Mr. Jamar:
Hey guys, I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving weekend! I only have a few things to go over this week. The teacher voice project is going well. Danielle and I will be e-mailing teachers and deans this week. If you have any questions on what is going on, please feel free to ask us after the meeting. You will be seeing the AA poster sometime in the next few days. My committee will be meeting to put the posters up this week if Jenny and I get them done in time! I will also be meeting with the provost this Wednesday to see what other issues I should be addressing. If you wish to come with me, you can talk to me after the meeting and I will fill you in on the time and place. That is all for now. Have a great week everybody!
Public Relations—Ms. Rogers:
Hey y’all! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving break along with insane Black Friday shopping! This week I will be working on different ideas for promotion of WSG and implementing them, the senator spotlight project, and working with Ms. Jordan and Mr. Jamar on their upcoming events! As always, if you have any questions let me know. Have an amazing rest of the week, stay warm, and let the holiday cheer begin. I’ve heard it is the most wonderful time of the year, so let’s make these next couple of weeks awesome!
University Services—Ms. McFarland:
I have a meeting with Bob Barry on Wednesday, next week I will be able to report back any important updates about campus. If there is anything you want me to ask him while I’m there, let me know. The individuals on the police report have been emailed about the free legal service. I’m going to continue to do my research on the other UW schools, for services they offer. Any questions or concerns let me know. Thanks and have a great week.
Legislative Affairs—Ms. Dantzler:
Hey all!! I’m still seeking ideas that would make good for a debate! If you have any ideas, please let me know.Aside from putting together a debate for the campus and Whitewater community I will be teaming up with Patrick and Jan in working on the budget relapse. Any ?’s let me know!
WSG Clerk—Ms. Schwarz: Greetings WSGers! I hope that everyone had a good mini break. I do not have much to report this week. I’ve been finishing up elections stuff and I am working on transition material. If anyone is interested in the Clerk position please let me know! I will be attending the Student Reps. conference this weekend with President Johnson, let us know if you have anything you want us to ask or tell them. The Internal Affairs committee WILL be meeting this Tuesday at 9:00pm, I will be bringing candy. I am always available via phone, e-mail, or during my office hours, if you need anything. I hope that everyone has a good week and is looking forward to finals in a couple short weeks!
Speaker—Sen. Abbott:
I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving! Last week, I spent a lot of time working with the search committee for the new director of the Academic Advising Center. I also worked on my transition materials and began preparing the new transition binder for the 2012 Speaker of the Senate. Upon election of a new Speaker, I plan to set up meetings to go through the transition material and answer any questions he or she may have. If you have any questions about being Speaker, feel free to ask! This week, I will continue working on transition, as well as sending out emails to committee chairs to inform them of the transition as well since it is the middle of an academic year. Please note that if you currently serve on an external committee and desire to remain on the committee next semester (provided you have been re-elected), the appointment runs on an academic year and you will maintain the appointment. It’s my birthday on Thursday! Yay! That being said, I will be going home this weekend to celebrate with my family, so the agenda deadline is firmly at NOON on Friday. This is the final week to submit items for consideration for this semester, so please, please, please submit everything on time to me. Thanks and have a fabulous week!
Other important information
Sen. Winter, Web Advisory Group, discussed the various facets of the UWW websites and all the pages that will be switching to the UWW sites. They also discussed accessibility and usability for smart phones etc. There will be a survey for students to participate in this week.
Sen. McDarison, Gen. Ed. Review Committee,
reviewed a number of General Education classes. They also discussed the results of “writing still matters” a program that evaluates students’ ability to write efficiently. 80% of incoming freshmen are inefficient and 50% of outgoing seniors are inefficient. They are discussing ways to mitigate that. They are also discussing how to incorporate LEAP into general education courses.
Mr. Pellizzi and Mr. Hinspator, Dining Services, presented information about the Drumlin Dining Hall Renovation including layouts, concepts, designs, and timelines.
I hope everyone has a great week! Study hard, work hard, and stay warm

SENATE ELECTIONS ARE THIS WEEK!!!!
I hope everyone is having a great week, here are the minutes from this week’s senate meeting!
President Johnson:
Last week John and I got a lot of new projects started. I am trying to get together a fundraiser for the Treyton Field of Dreams. Jenny and I got out invites for the Inclusive Leaders Forum. Also John and I had our evaluations with our wonderful e-board and the good news is, no one got fired! Bad news is, there is no bad news. John and I also got word that we are going to be able to design and implement a new website under the blogs.uww.edu/(hopefully our name) url. We are very excited about this and we some senators to sit down and look at this and tell us what we’d like to see, have, add so if you are interested in that, please let madam speaker know. Also, fun and exciting news, John and I will be guests chefs at Esker on Dec. 7th…more details to come. This week, I have SPBC where i will be learning about the budget lapse most likely. John and I will be looking forward to working some different student issues, and meeting with the Ad-Hoc committee. I also will be attending a couple of meetings, shaking hands, kissing babies. Presidential stuff. Let me know if you wonderful people need anything!
Vice President Jensen:
Greetings WSGers, I hope you all had a great week last week. President Johnson and I met with the marketing director for UWW Dining and will be appearing as guest chefs at Esker before the end of semester. We also did E-Board Evaluations on Thursday to check up on where all of our executive board members are in terms of projects. I assisted with writing some of the legislation that is being presented to you tonight. I am happy to see so many External Committee Reports this week! I really hope that everyone HAS been going to their external committees. Going to them is a very important part of being a Senator. I have heard several Senators talk about the lack of things going on in the Senate. Most of the power the goes along with being a WSG Senator come from either SUFAC or External Committees. It is the best and most efficient way to make sure that student voice is heard. Also, please check out Section 8.3(H) of the WSG Standing Rules. After you go to an external committee meeting you are required to give an External Committee Report! So please make sure to get into contact with Madam Speaker about getting on the agenda. Also, I am not going to attempt to influence your opinions on anything political because not only is it something that I’m not supposed to do, it is something I don’t feel comfortable doing in this setting. However, I urge anyone and everyone to really make sure they understand the issue before going ahead and signing any petitions over the upcoming weeks. If you don’t understand, don’t sign. If you truly believe in what the petition is about please sign it. Outside of that, I hope that everyone has a great week! Constitution Revision Committee meets tomorrow at 5:30PM in the WSG Office!
Student Affairs—Ms. Jordan:
This past week I have just continuously been working on the two projects that I mentioned last week which are; The involvement Initiative and the Teacher Voice Project. I have finished up the Involvement Initiative outline and I will begin emailing all the orgs, reserving rooms for the fair and org recognition and I have been trying to find a special guest speaker. Also, for the Teacher Voice Project Patrick Jamar and I tried meeting with Provost Kopper last Wednesday but she was unavailable so we are going to meet with her this week and begin figure out who we will need to get in contact with and what teachers/administration would like to be involved in this. If you would like to be apart of either of these projects or learn more about either of them please talk to me or contact me at JordanDN15@uww.edu. Thanks I hope everyone has a fabulous week!!!
Academic Affairs—Mr. Jamar:
Hey everyone, I’ll make this brief. Danielle Jordan and I will be meeting with Provost Kopper THIS Wednesday. The provost was unable to meet with us last week due to a schedule change. Anyone with questions on the Teacher Voice project please contact Danielle or me. Also, the budget information is coming along quite nicely. There will be a nice poster made for it quite soon. The Academic Affairs Internal Committee will now be meeting every other Wednesday and you can look forward to my e-mails for that. Plus, Jenny and I also had a nice little chat about the AA posters that I will be putting up with campus information; you will hear more on that next week. Other than that, have a great week!
Public Relations—Ms. Rogers:
Howdy! I hope everyone had a great week and weekend. I worked with President Johnson on the Inclusive Leadership Forum in December. This week I will be promoting the senate elections this Wednesday and Thursday, make sure you tell your friends to vote!! I will also be working on future promotions with Patrick Jamar and Danielle Jordan. Stay warm, and have a great rest of the week. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns! P.S. GO PACK GO!
University Services—Ms. McFarland:
Last week for the group session there were about twelve students who came and met with the lawyer. I’m starting to look for contact information for the business fair. I will also be making an appointment to meet with Bob Barry to discuss services and other things that are going on around campus. Any questions, let me know.
Legislative Affairs—Ms. Dantzler:
Have any ideas for a potential debate? Please let me know! Other than that nothings new, but me updating information posted throughout the office. Please let me know of any questions or concerns.
WSG Clerk—Ms. Schwarz:
Last week was a busy one! Thank you to everyone who attended the Candidate Meeting last Wednesday, let’s all run fair and clean elections!! Speaking of elections, WSG Senate Elections are THIS WEEK!!! Please make sure and tell all your friends and classmates to come out and vote, ONLINE, woohoo! Other than elections I will be working on transition material for the new clerk. I will also be working on SUFAC stuff this week, get ready for SUFAC during the next two weeks. If you have any questions about elections, the clerk position, or SUFAC please let me know. Have a great week!!!
Speaker—Sen. Abbott:
Greetings, WSG! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the end to another perfect Warhawk football season! Last week, I spent a lot of time working on legislation for this week, including the piece directed to Con. Revis from S11-12:05. Special thanks to everyone who came out for the Strengthfinder sessions last week! It was a great leadership opportunity and we should all thank Jan Bilgen for helping us out with it! I also worked on some issues with constituent meetings. Please note that constituent meetings are one of our most important responsibilities as senators. They only occur once a month during the academic year and they provide a great opportunity for some face-to-face contact with students who may not have a knowledge of what WSG is and does. If you have any questions about how constituent meetings work, please, please, please ask! This week, I plan to spend a lot of time on my transition material! Anyone who is interested in knowing more about what the Speaker does, please feel free to ask! Also, don’t forget that Senate elections are ONLINE this week! I look forward to seeing the results. Also, please, please, please remember that in the upcoming weeks we will be working extensively on the SUFAC process. This is one of our most critical responsibilities and we are fortunate enough to have a voice in the process. If you have ANY QUESTIONS about SUFAC, there are any number of WSGers who would be happy to help! Just let us know!
Provost Kopper and her cabinet talked about information about future class schedules and patterns throughout the week. They will be sending out a survey that students will fill out during registration regarding their input about scheduling. Ms. Whitney Henley came to speak with us about the University Health and Counseling Services and the different services they serve to the students and faculty. Senator Schultz also discussed Gender Neutral Housing at UW-Whitewater for possibly the 2012-2013 school year. SENATE ELECTIONS ARE THIS WEEK! Wednesday, 16th and Thursday, 17th and they are all online this year!! FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!! Go to uww.edu/join to vote! It’s very important to vote because the senate is the representatives of the student voice of UW-Whitewater!!
MAKE SURE YOU VOTE!
Clerk applications are available outside the WSG office if interested in the position! Deadline is November 20th at the office.
Have an awesome week.

Hello guys! Here are the minutes from last week’s meeting!
President Johnson:
Last week was busy! John and I met with Provost Kopper twice, first to have a formal meeting in which we chatted about different University and System issues. Some of the eboard and the Provost gathered for a nice lunch meeting where we talked about some upcoming things, and also Provost Kopper cleared up some issues addressed on monday night. I attended the Voter ID presentation that our Leg. Affairs director Sasha Dantzler did a wonderful job on. Also had the SUFAC hearing more to come about that. John, Jan, and I are working with the university on the website. This week, i’m working on speakers that are coming in the next few weeks with presentations. Jenny and I are working on info for the Inclusive Leaders Forum. I’m giving blood, and having evaluations with my eboard friends. Also! As the Chancellor and Provost advised last monday, if you feel strongly about the budget lapse (regardless of political ideals) please contact your leaders in Madison. I have a couple of different letters I can forward or give to you and you can reword them to your liking. I myself have drafted one with my parents and would be happy to let you see it/use it (with your own name) at any time. Elections and SUFAC are slowly creeping up, please get knowledgeable! Have a good week.
Vice President Jensen:
Hello WSG! This past week, President Johnson and I met with Provost Kopper to discuss the budget lapse some more, as well as discussing the future of WSG’s website. She was also kind enough to take some of the Executive Board out to lunch on Tuesday. Ms. Jordan and I are going to begin working on an involvement initiative to start next semester; I will allow her to discuss that more! I want to thank everyone who has been doing their office hours! Part of making sure that this organization is efficient is spending time with the other people in it. Also, thank you to everyone who has been going to their external committee meetings. Just a reminder that it is a requirement of all senators to attend external committee meetings, and not doing so is a violation of the Standing Rules! If you still haven’t gotten into contact with your committee chair, keep trying! The Constitution Revision Committee will be meeting tomorrow at 5:30 PM to discuss last week’s IT Elimination Legislation. As always, make sure you are reading the Constitution, Standing Rules, and Parliamentary Procedure (Robert’s Rules). I hope to see you all in the WSG Office! If you need anything please shoot me an e-mail or find me in the office! Have a great week!!!
Student Affairs—Ms. Jordan:
Good evening everyone; I hope everyone had a great weekend!!! This past week I started working on an event called “The Involvement Initiative” which will be an event held from Monday through Thursday at the end of January. It is just like the involvement fair concept, however it is a week-long event. I have also started working with Patrick Jamar on the project we are calling the “Teacher Voice Project.” This project is to become aware of how professors, advisors, administration, etc. feel about working with students. Lastly, I had a meeting with Dr. Rios and Dr. Bilodeau this past Thursday and we discussed the past diversity forum and how to get more students to go to events hosted by the school.
Academic Affairs—Mr. Jamar:
Hey guys, I just have a few things to fill you in on this week. I’m in the process of creating posters with all of the campus academic information on them. The poster will include: tutoring services, grade appeals, and other important campus dates coming up. These posters were done in the past and I want to bring them back. I am also going to create a master sheet on budget information for students or something to that effect starting next week, so look forward to hearing more about that. Finally, I am planning on starting the teacher voice project in the near future. Other than that, have a great veterans’ week everyone!
Public Relations—Ms. Rogers:
Hello everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend! I am supporting the troops and veterans this week and I hope you all do so as well. This week I will be working with the elections committee, promoting constituent meetings, thinking of new and creative ideas to promote WSG, and creating a QR code for the upcoming elections and the website. If you have any questions or concerns, let me know what I can do!
Have an awesome week!
University Services—Ms. McFarland:
Hello everyone, On November 9th, the group session for the underage drinking incident will take place in the Hamilton room. This session will allow for students to ask the lawyer for advise and to ask him questions as well. I will be working on gathering business contact information, in order to prepare for the business fair. That’s all for now, any questions just ask. Thanks
Legislative Affairs—Ms. Dantzler:
Hey all! The Voter ID event wasn’t as successful as hoped! I think it’s very essential for us to support each other before we can expect the help from others! Well that’s all for now.
WSG Clerk—Ms. Schwarz:
Last week was busy, busy with WSG Elections and SUFAC up and running. I will have more information about elections coming up in the next couple of weeks. Just a reminder to the candidates and anyone interested in running a write-in campaign, the MANDATORY Candidate Info. Session will be THIS WEDNESDAY, November 9th at 9:00pm in the WSG Office. Please let me know ASAP if you will be unable to attend, this is a very important meeting and everyone should be there. This week I will be continuing to work on Elections as well as SUFAC. If you have any questions please let me know. Finally, Internal Affairs will be meeting this Tuesday, November 8th at 9:15pm in the WSG Office, everyone is welcome to attend. Have a great week!!
Speaker—Sen. Abbott:
Last week, I sent out a number of emails addressing some committee issues. I also worked on my transition material to prepare for the end of my term as Speaker. This week, I will be completing the Strengthfinder 2.0 activity with Ms. Bilgen, after which I will send out the retreat survey so we can get some feedback on that program as well. I would also like to thank all of the awesome senators and executives doing their office hours each week! It is much appreciated! Also, please remember to thank a veteran this week, because as always, freedom isn’t free.
WSG approved the Veterans’ Week Memorandum and also discussed the upcoming Senate elections; elections will be held entirely online this year at uww.edu/join!
I hope everyone has a splendid week

E-Board Reports
President Johnson:
Last week, John and I met with Chancellor Telfer and talked about some state and university issues. We will meet with him again soon so if you have items you would like addressed please let us know. Vice President Jensen:
Greetings WSG, this last week, President Johnson and I met with Chancellor Telfer to talk about the budget cuts from the state level and how system and UW-W are handling it. Chancellor Telfer was nice enough to come in to speak to us about it so I would like to once again thank him. Other than that, I’ve just been working on getting equipment and supplies in the office. The computers in the Senate office are soon going to be going in to get re-imaged, so if you have anything valuable on them, please delete them or save them onto a flash drive because they will be deleted. AS ALWAYS, be sure that you are reading the WSG Standing Rules, Constitution, and ParliPro materials, especially with SUFAC coming up. ConRevis will not be meeting this week. Anyone who would like an up-to-date copy of the Standing Rules should e-mail me. Also, tonight you will be voting on the Student Reps. Constitution, I would urge you to ask as many questions about the document as you can so you fully understand its purpose, I personally don’t like the document, as I don’t think that Student Reps. Needs a Constitution or governing documents. I hope to see you all in the WSG Office this week! Have a good week!
Student Affairs—Ms. Jordan:

Academic Affairs—Mr. Jamar:
Hey guys, I hope your week is starting off splendid. My meeting with Kim Simes about the Four Year Plan is coming up this week. The Academic Affairs Committee Meeting this week went well, we had a little chit-chat about student concerns. The two student issues that were brought up last meeting are being circulated to the Provost and appropriate deans (just an FYI). You can (hopefully) hear more about that next meeting. Otherwise, have a great week and I hope everyone had a fun weekend!!!
Public Relations—Ms. Rogers:

Happy homecoming and Halloween week everyone! Here are the minutes from this week’s senate meeting:
President Johnson:
Yo…so last week John and I had a wonderful time in River Falls, and by wonderful I mean a little crazy. We will ratify the Student Representatives Constitution that was passed while we were there. We also talked about things like Voter ID and other system issues. One thing John and I are also pushing for you to contact any friends at UW-Eau Claire and tell them to vote NO on their United Council referendum. So Facebook your friends, send an email or two, and help them out. This week John and I are meeting with Chancellor Telfer to talk about some system updates and budget cuts that are coming down. Also meeting with Bob Barry to talk about some different projects/ideas. John, Samantha, and I are going to talk about a possible business. Halloween is close and I want to remind everyone to be safe and have fun. Also, HAPPY HOMECOMING!
Vice President Jensen: Hello everyone! This weekend, President Johnson and I made the trek up to UW-River Falls for Student Reps. We had a great time with all of the other Presidents and Vice-Presidents. Some changes to the Student Reps Constitution were made. United Council was almost taken out completely from the document. Anyone who would like to talk about the Student Reps Constitution with me in further detail is welcome to come talk to me. I spoke briefly with the Vice-President of UW-Eau Claire about their “Vote No” Campaign against rejoining United Council. President Johnson and I drafted a short letter showing our personal support for the No campaign going on there. Other than that, I will be in the office during my normal office hours this week. The Constitution Revision Committee meets tomorrow at 5:30PM in the WSG Office, everyone is welcome to attend. I look forward to seeing everyone in the office this week. AS ALWAYS, be sure to keep reading up on the WSG Constitution and WSG Standing Rules! Anyone who wants the most up-to-date copy should just send me an e-mail or ask me for it. Have a great week!
Student Affairs—Ms. Jordan: Hey everyone I hope you all had a great weekend! This past week I met with Dr. Rios and Dr. Bilodeau about a few projects that I am starting. Also, last week on Thursday I went to the diversity forum with Samantha and I also went on Friday morning as well. If you want to know more information about anything just let me know!
Academic Affairs—Mr. Jamar:
Hey everyone, I’ll make this brief. If you haven’t seen it already, there are handy-dandy academic calendars in the office. They are also being put up around the university as well.

Me, President Johnson, and Vice-President Jensen will be meeting with the provost quite soon so if you have anything to be discussed, please let on of us know! I hope everyone as a good week!
Public Relations—Ms. Rogers:
Happy homecoming, everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your fun-filled weekend! Another very short report, but this week I will be promoting the Voter ID event (Tuesday, November 1st) with Sasha, updating Facebook, Twitter, and the blog, and meeting with my committee! If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know asap!

Have a great rest of the week and be safe this weekend!
University Services—Ms. McFarland:
Last week during the housing fair we had ten landlords participate along with three landlords taking the share table option. Approximately 87 students stopped by the fair. Since there was very little participation from local businesses, we are working on ideas for just a business fair. Aside from the housing fair, people on the police report have been emailed about the free legal service. That’s all for now, enjoy your week and HAPPY HOMECOMING
Individuals in need of accommodations should contact Stephanie at wsgspeaker@uww.edu as soon as possible.
Legislative Affairs—Ms. Dantzler:
Greetings all, I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! There still isn’t an update on the campus speaker for the event, but we have began publicizing! I’m hoping by the end of this week we will have word! Next week I hope to get Hayley Tenpas, Intern from Marketing and Media Relations to come speak about the Universities initiative in participating in Remembrance Day National Roll Call. Volunteers are needed! She will come and inform us on all the details. Have a great week!
Information Technology—Vacant
WSG Clerk—Ms. Schwarz:

Greetings All! I hope you all had a lovely weekend and are ready for a great Homecoming week here at UW-Whitewater! Last week, I finished all committee appointments! YAY! I also attended the Executive Board meeting and was elected chair of the subcommittee formed to address signature sheet issues. This week, I will be continuing work on my transition material as well as helping our newly elected parliamentarian get acquainted with the new position! Hello y’all! Here are the minutes from the senate meeting:
President Johnson:
Last week I set up meetings and kept working on my multicultural event. It has been pushed back due to time and other conflicts throughout this month. This week John and I will be finishing some different pieces that will be brought to the body in the coming weeks. Also Anna and I are meeting about fun SUFAC stuff. Other items this week include setting up a meeting with chancellor teller, getting ready for student reps and finishing a time line for our website.
Vice President Jensen:
This past week Patrick and I sat in on interviews with candidates for Director of Admissions. We also have been setting up meetings with Chancellor Telfer and Provost Kopper to discuss different things that we would like to do. Other than that, I worked on putting together the new binders for the new senators. Once again I would like to advise that anyone who is not familiar with the WSG Constitution, Standing Rules, and Parliamentary Procedure should read them over. All of that material is in your Senate binder. We will also be discussing a lot of this stuff during the retreat. WSG Constitutional Revision Committee is meeting tomorrow evening at 5:30PM in the WSG Office, everyone is welcome to come. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me during my office hours! Have a great week.
Student Affairs—Ms. Jordan:
Good Evening everyone, I hope you all enjoyed the beautiful weather this past week. Last Thursday, I met with Dr. Rios and we discussed a few things; first we talked about Constitution Day, and doing something as a whole institution instead of just WSG participating in it. We also talked about the NWC show and the reaction to it from freshmen, and if it is a good show to learn from for the NSS classes. Lastly, we discussed Veterans’ Day and all the special events going on during that week. Dr. Rios put me in contact with Elizabeth Watson, who manages this special event week, and I sent her an email to see if she would be willing to come into one of our meetings and explain everything that is going to happen that week.
Academic Affairs—Mr. Jamar:
Hey guys, hope you’re all having a great Monday. The Academic Affairs Committee met last Wednesday and had a short little update on the 4-year plan progress. I am setting up a meeting with Kim Moistner-Bartlett, who heads First Year Experience, to implement the four year plan into their schedule and will also be meeting the provost, VP Jensen, and President Johnson next Wednesday to discuss various things. Hey, hey, hey! Here are the minutes from the senate meeting:
President Johnson:
Last week Anna, John, and I met with Dr. Bilodeau, Faye Skelton, and Dr. Rios about looking at the Non-Allocables. Anna and I will hopefully be writing a plan to help standardize things. I also sat in on the first SPBC meeting which they talked about the budget. Danielle Jordan and I also had the pleasure of sitting in on the student panel at the “Difficult Dialogues” seminar last Friday. Teachers asked some very tough questions about diversity issues in and out of the classroom/university life. Also met with Frank Bartlett, Jan, and Tyler from nomoredorms.com to talk about some future partnerships (see handout). Looking forward to this week, meeting with Jan twice, hopefully meeting with Provost Kopper to talk about website things. And also having a follow up meeting with Tyler. Don’t forget, family fest this weekend! I hope to see everyone at the game spending some wonderful time with their families watching the Warhawks get us another win. As always, if you need me I’m available by email or phone, 262-745-7712
Vice President Jensen:
Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week last week! I hope that all of the new senators are finding it easy to learn the different aspects of how Whitewater Student Government functions. For anyone looking for ways to better understand our organization, you can use your office hour this week to; read the WSG Constitution, WSG Standing Rules, and review Robert’s Rules of Order (either the actual copy we have in our office, or use the packet at the end of your binder.) Other than that, my week last week was relatively uneventful. President Johnson and I spent an excessive amount of time discussing possible changes to the WSG website and the IT position (which we will be discussing tonight.) President Johnson and I plan on having another round of meetings with Chancellor Telfer, Provost Kopper, and other administrators over the next few weeks. I will also be working with our Legislative Affairs Director on an upcoming event for students to explain Voter ID. If anyones has any questions, feel free to contact me in the office or by e-mail/Facebook. Also, anyone who still wants to check out a WSG Polo or who wants a nametag for your committee meetings (or because they look cool) should contact me and I will get you one. I am trying to ensure that none of these get lost this year because they were not all returned at the end of last year. Have a great week!
Student Affairs—Ms. Jordan:
Good evening everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! This past week I sent out emails to the orgs about which lot they will be cleaning for Adopt-A-Lot. I also met with Dr. Rios and Dr. Bilodeau on Thursday and discussed the Student Voice Project a little bit more. Lastly, on Friday I participated in Train the Trainer which is a Diversity Forum. Here we discussed difficult dialogues between students and professors/administration, and sometimes student-to-student interaction. It was really interesting and the employees here on campus are really interested in trying to find out how to make this campus interact with people who are not the same but make them feel safe about trying new things as well.
Academic Affairs—Mr. Jamar:
Hey everybody, there are a few things I want to cover. The Academic Affairs Internal Committee Meetings are going to be held on Wednesday at 4:00pm every week outside the WSG office. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come! I have been getting student complaints about the World of the Arts class not having enough seats for events required for the class. You’ll have more information on this by next meeting. I will also be supplying a syllabus to those of you that wish to see one for new student seminar next week as well. If you want more recent updates, you can come to the Academic Affairs committee meeting on Wednesday! Thanks guys, have a great week!
Public Relations—Ms. Rogers:
I hope everyone had an awesome week and weekend! What I’ve been doing this past week is work on the Facebook page, our Twitter, created a new blog post on the website, and I made a new poster for the display case in front of Ike Shaffer Commons (go check it out, it’s awesome!) I will be e-mailing Royal Purple this week to talk about a WSG column, working on the senate poster in front of the office, and of course, promoting WSG anyway that I can. If you have any questions or concerns, let me know! Have a great rest of the week.

Wellers will be off-line next year for renovations. Drumlin will be going off-line this summer and will have limited service in the Fall, it will be back online in the Spring semester of next year.

Hey yall! These are the minutes of the second meeting of the year!
President Johnson:
Last week John and I met with Paul Plinske and talked about athletics and all the wonderful things happening over there. He gave us a lot of info about what they plan to fix/build/replace. The involvement fair was awesome, but cold, and we did draw a good amount of interest along with promoting our services. I worked on getting things ready for constitution day. This week, Anna, John, and I will be sitting down with some administrators to talk SUFAC, also, I’m starting my multicultural event for next month. Budget will be coming to the senate soon as well. Also, if you are interested in joining a system-wide committee, please let me know!
Vice President Jensen:
Hello everybody, it’s been a busy week for us. Patrick and I met with Athletics Director, Paul Plinske to talk about some of the projects that they are working on over the next couple of years. We spent Wednesday afternoon freezing at the Involvement fair. I also got binders done for the new Senators. Anyone who wants a name tag or a WSG polo needs to talk to me after the meeting or in the office. If anyone needs anything else, please let me know, have a great week.
Student Affairs—Ms. Jordan:
Good evening everyone, I hope all of you had a fantastic weekend! During this past week I have been continuing on finding organizations to sign up for Adopt-A-Lot. I have eight orgs right now and hoping to at least get 3-5 more. I also have been continuing looking over the Student Voice project which I will be discussing with Dr. Rios and Dr. Bilodeau tomorrow at our meeting. Lastly, I will hopefully be attending the Difficult Dialogues program on Friday with both of them to see why students are having issues opening up and being comfortable on campus.
Academic Affairs—Mr. Jamar:
The Faculty Senate meeting was very informational. Chancellor Telfer talked about the 2011- 2013 Biennial Budget. There was also a lot of speculation on the online syllabus requirement. A lot of the topics discussed were exclusively for the faculty so I won’t share all the elaborate details. Talk to me after the meeting if you want more in-depth notes on the meeting.
Just a reminder to all; Provost Kopper is available for a nice chat every Wednesday from 7:30am to 9:00am in the UC. I will most likely be chatting with her as well if you’re looking for me. Have a good week everybody!
Hey guys, there’s a bunch of updates to fill you in on. I had the Gun Control Committee meeting last Tuesday in the Chancellor’s Conference Room. Hey everyone, I am beyond thrilled to be writing my first post!
My name is Jennifer Rogers and I am the public relations director for this academic year! We had our first senate meeting last night and everything went very smoothly.
President Johnson:
This summer was a busy one! Between two jobs and running up to Whitewater for meetings it went by very fast. John and I met extensively with Dr. Rios and Dr. Bilodeau to talk about the Student Voice project they had completed in the previous academic year. We also met with Chancellor Telfer to talk about budget items and our growth agenda for the next year and beyond. Provost Kopper had a nice meeting with us and can’t wait to have lunch with everyone who can make it once a month at a to-be-determined time. This upcoming week, John and I are meeting with our athletic director, Paul Plinske, and also working on Constitution Day! GET EXCITED!
Vice President Jensen:
Hello everyone and welcome to the brand new school year. I know that this year is going to be a great year to be at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Over this summer President Johnson and I met with a lot of important people that he spoke about during his report. I attended almost all of the Plan It Purples to introduce WSG to new students. Other than that, I have spent the last two weeks just trying to get everything ready for this upcoming school year. If you see anything missing from your binder (Note: they are a bit smaller than last year, so they include fewer tabs) please let me know and I will get you what you need for it. Also, over the next week I will start handing out nametags and WSG Polos. I hope that this is going to be a great school year and I hope that we get to hear a lot of committee reports and we get to see a lot of legislation!
Student Affairs- Ms. Jordan:
Hello, my name is Danielle Jordan, I am a sophomore here on campus and this is my second year on Whitewater Student Government. As the Student Affairs director, I plan on working with Dr. Rios and Dr. Bilodeau on how to make this campus friendlier and in a sense homier for students. I will be working with them, along with talking to different organizations to see how this campus works as a whole and to see what changes need to be made. As of this past week, I have been working on Adopt-A-Lot. I have schedules the date and sent out an email to all the organizations on campus. Adopt-A-Lot is planned for Friday, October 14. It will be held from 2 until 5pm. I also was going to see if any members of WSG were interested in helping out with this project. It would be best to have about 4-7 people clean up the lot I would assign for us. Lastly, if you like working and being with your fellow peers, choose Student Affairs as your internal committee!
Academic Affairs- Mr. Jamar:
Hello everyone, my name’s Patrick Jamar. I’m majoring in marketing with a minor in journalism. I am a Green Business is Good Business Learning Community Alumni Member. The Academic Affairs Staff had their first meeting last Tuesday where they discussed what goals they were going to achieve for this year. I am attending a meeting on Concealed Carry on campus and the Faculty Senate meeting tomorrow (9/13). If you want details on anything I just spoke about, contact me by email or in person! Thanks guys!
Public Relations- Ms. Rogers:
My name is Jennifer Rogers and I am the new PRD for the 2011-2012 academic year. I am currently a junior and my major is public relations, what a coincidence! My role as the PRD is to promote student awareness and involvement in WSG, create press releases and advertisements, work with the Student Affairs Director (Danielle), and help with the PR committee. This week I will be working on digital signage for senate meetings, and emailing Royal Purple to discuss a possible WSG column. I am very excited to be the PRD this year and I cannot wait for what this year has in store for me! If you have any questions feel free to ask.
University Services- Ms. McFarland:
I’m Samantha McFarland and I’m currently a junior majoring in international business. As the University Service Director, some of the basic services I’m in charge of are off-campus housing guides, legal services, and other projects that come up throughout the year. One goal of mine this year would be to figure out what services are currently not being offered but would be beneficial to all students to have.
Legislative Affairs- Ms. Dantzler:
Hello my name is Sasha Dantzler and I will serve as the Legislative Affairs Director for Whitewater Student Government. I am a senior majoring in public relations with a minor in English writing. Some of my duties will entail conducting research, providing information and giving recommendations to the senate regarding existing and proposed policies and laws affecting students and Wisconsin Open Meetings Law. As the Clerk I have many roles, minute-taker, archivist, internal memory keeper, election chair, organizational historian, and miscellaneous. I am more than happy to help anyone in any way that I can. Please let me know if you have questions!! I also chair the Internal Affairs committee and I encourage everyone to join. Finally, I am also heavily involved with SUFAC on campus. Speaker- Sen. Abbott:
Hello all! My name is Stephanie Abbott and I am a political science-honors major with minors in French and English. I’m originally from a tiny town way up north named Rice Lake, but I spent my whole summer here in Whitewater working on Undergraduate Research and working. Last week I spent a lot of time in the office getting ready for this semester! Committees have already been emailing me frequently about my appointments, so I prepared all the committee information for tonight’s meeting. I also attended the first Executive Board meeting of the year and I am very much looking forward to working with a great executive team this year! I also had a great opportunity to help set up a beautiful flag memorial for 9/11 remembrance and I would like to thank everyone who made this memorial event a success. This week, I will be (hopefully) completing the majority of committee appointments for senate approval next week, as well as working on retreat planning. I will be out of town at a wedding Friday-Sunday next weekend, so if you need anything, just give me a call. If you have any questions, please get in touch with me!
